Kurius is a non-profit coding education organization that aims to provide free and accessible programming courses to anyone who wants to learn. We teach the fundamental concepts of various popular programming languages.

We are looking for volunteer instructors to help us run our online courses. As an instructor, you will be responsible for:

• Preparing and delivering engaging lessons based on a curriculum aligned with your knowledge and strengths
• Providing feedback and support to students during the course
• Collaborating with other instructors and staff members to ensure the quality and consistency of our courses

Help our renowned Learning and Engagement Department deliver a variety of educational programming including children's art classes, March Break camp, Summer Camp OPG Sunday and more! Assisting the Learning and Engagement Department is an excellent way to learn about a range of artistic techniques and practices, as well as gain valuable practical experience working with children of all ages. Swim with a Buddy Volunteers will help young children become comfortable in the water. 

Swim with a Buddy takes place every Friday evening at our Eastview location -- 433 Eulalie Ave., Oshawa.

Volunteers must meet the following requirements:

• Be at least 14 years of age
• Provide 2 references (neither can be from family members)
• Able to swim and comfortable in the water
• Commit to a schedule based on volunteer's availability
• Volunteers over 18 years old require a Vulnerable Sector check

The Uxbridge Farmers' Market offers a variety of interactive programming for kids to enjoy while their families shop at the market. These include but are not limited to sensory play tables, colouring sheets, scavenger hunts, and simple arts and crafts. Volunteers attending the Kids' Zone are responsible for:

• hyping up the Kids' Zone area
• welcoming kids and families over
• encouraging kids to participate
• offering simple instruction and low-level support for kids' activities 
• assisting with basic setup/cleanup

The Uxbridge Farmers' Market runs 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Sunday rain or shine - volunteers must dress for the weather as the market is outdoors. 

The Kids' Zone is NOT a daycare service and children are not to be left in the care of the Kids' Zone Volunteer.

Seeking volunteer male mentors for boys ages 9 - 16. Must be 21+ and preferably identifies as representing the Afro-Canadian Black community. If you are empathetic, kind and caring, we would love to connect you with a youth in need of support and guidance. Position is hybrid (both in person and virtual), and commit to at least 6 months. •        Assist with establishing, monitoring, coordinating and implementing the organization’s administrative policies for Afiwi Groove School.
•        Track and monitor student absences.
•        E-mail/telephone correspondence with parents, schools and community organizations and answering basic inquiries (i.e. registrations, performances/bookings)

•        Upload receipts and expense into Quick Books or send to the accountant.

A variety of volunteer opportunities available to assist with weekly timed 5 km run on the Duffins Trail * marshal, photography * setup, tear-down * timer, scanning, finish tokens * other tasks as needed

Katimavik’s National Experience is an opportunity for any Canadian citizens, permanent residents or landed refugees aged 17 – 25 who are looking for 5.5 months of creative learning, community engagement, Truth and Reconciliation, and self-discovery * participants will live in a group setting with up to 10 of their peers in two separate communities throughout the course of the program * during the program they engage in 32 hours of valuable volunteer work a week, learn how to manage a house, make lifelong friends, and gain confidence that they themselves can make an impactful difference in our country.  
 
This is a fully funded opportunity where participants’ travel expenses, living accommodations, food costs, and daily needs are covered * participants will need to bring is their dedication, empathy, and commitment to making a better world * Katimavik aims to help young folks become engaged, caring citizens and capable contributors and leaders for a better Canada through the development of 21st century skills, experiential learning, and civic engagement.
